Do not put your childs name on thier clothes, school lunch box, or back pack. This tells a stranger thier name and give them the element of surprise without the childs knowledge.
Buy youself some rearview glasses. They are made for you to see what is behind you. You can more safely walk to and from class, labor, shopping with out someone sneaking up on you and catching you off guard.
When you approach your vehicle, have your keys in you hand to quickly enter your vehicle, and view your back seat to make certain no one is in thier to attack you.

Carry an expandable baton, handcuffs, mace, or pepper spray. None of these items are unlawful to carry to our knowledge, but you are encouraged to check your state law before doing so.
If forbidden by your state law than get that law changed as it serves no purpose in your self protection, and police will tell you they cant be everywhere, and do everything.
One must be prepared at ALL times to protect themself's and family, as help maybe a long time comming. We would rather go before a lawful jury for protecting ourselfs than to the morge.
Prepare your self an affidavit of truth and write out who you are, and what you are. I.E. are you sovereign then say so, and claim your rights, your God given rights, and your the boss, not your public servant, he is a member of the public trust, and he has an oath, as a trust officer, and put that into a lawful document and have it noterized. Keep your mouth closed, and hand that to public officials, especially police.
Be aware they will still try to get you to talk and load up your words against you, and trist your words, so zip up, and say nothing and you will be let go 95% of the time, and for the remaining 5%, go to jail, pay bail, keep quite, and act on your own behalf, as any attorney will sell you out asap to their jurisdiction. dont be fooled brothers.
